The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala, or simply the Met Gala, is an annual fundraising benefit for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. It is one of the most prestigious and highly anticipated fashion events in the world. The event is traditionally held on the first Monday in May, and this year it will take place on May 6th.
Vogue, the renowned fashion magazine, will host the exclusive livestream of the Met Gala for the fourth year in a row. The livestream will provide viewers with a front-row seat to all the action on the red carpet, where celebrities and fashion icons will showcase their most glamorous and extravagant outfits. This year’s livestream will be hosted by actor Gwendoline Christie, producer and actor La La Anthony, and model Ashley Graham. Multi-hyphenate Emma Chamberlain will return as Vogue’s special correspondent, interviewing some of the biggest stars on the carpet.
The Met Gala is not just about the fashion, but also about the theme. This year’s theme, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” will celebrate the Costume Institute’s new exhibition of the same name. The exhibition will feature approximately 250 items drawn from the museum’s permanent collection, some rarely seen in public before, and displayed in entirely new ways. The exhibition will explore the complex and evolving relationship between fashion and American identity.
The Met Gala is a star-studded event, and this year’s guest list is sure to be no exception. Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth, Bad Bunny, and Vogue’s Anna Wintour will serve as the co-chairs. Honorary chairs for the evening include Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Chew.
If you can’t attend the Met Gala in person, the livestream is the next best thing. Tune in to Vogue’s website, YouTube channel, or Twitter account on May 6th at 6:00 pm ET to watch all the fashion fun unfold.
