The Black Hole Experience (BHX), an immersive exhibition created by multidisciplinary artist Kelly Nunes, is making its way to Los Angeles. Presented by Age of Union Alliance, a non-profit environmental organization led by tech CEO and environmentalist Dax Dasilva, BHX will debut during L.A. Climate Week, a major event focused on climate action and sustainability.
This unique exhibition, which has already captivated audiences in Chicago, New York City, Toronto, and Montreal, aims to ignite a sense of wonder and connection with the natural world. Housed within a 53-foot mobile trailer, the experience features an LED tunnel that leads visitors into a chamber where they are surrounded by stunning projections of celestial and black hole phenomena. The immersive environment, inspired by the cosmos, is designed to evoke a meditative state and foster a deeper appreciation for the planet.
BHX will be open to the public on September 14th at the Clean Energy Expo, which will take place at House of Cocotte in the Arts District. Admission is free. The exhibit will also be open during the opening and closing ceremonies of L.A. Climate Week, which will be held on September 8th and 15th, respectively.
Dax Dasilva, the founder of Age of Union, emphasizes the importance of art and creativity in inspiring environmental action. During the closing ceremonies on September 15th, he will give a talk titled “How Creative Art Forms Can Inspire Environmental Change,” delving into the intersection of art and environmental activism.
Age of Union is dedicated to protecting the planet’s threatened species and ecosystems. They believe that conservation is the frontline fight against climate change and utilize various art forms to engage audiences and foster a deeper connection with the natural world. The organization has produced numerous short films and feature documentaries, including “Wildcat,” which earned the prestigious Emmy Award for Outstanding Nature Documentary of 2023.
The Black Hole Experience in Los Angeles promises to be an unforgettable journey into the wonders of the universe and a powerful reminder of our interconnectedness with the planet. With its focus on inspiring the next generation of changemakers, this immersive exhibition is a testament to the power of art and creativity to drive positive change for the environment.
