The CCD: Fostering Relationships and Excellence in Event Hosting

Nestled in the heart of Dublin’s bustling city center, The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) has emerged as a beacon of excellence in the event hosting industry. Year after year, The CCD welcomes back repeat clients for conferences, conventions, and awards ceremonies, a testament to its unparalleled support, flexibility, and facilities. The CCD’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, versatile spaces, cutting-edge technology, and sustainable hospitality make it an ideal venue for events of all sizes and complexities. However, it is its greatest strength that truly sets The CCD apart – its people.

The CCD’s unwavering commitment to building strong relationships with clients, both new and returning, ensures a welcoming and seamless experience. From initial research and booking to the final wrap-up, The CCD teams are dedicated to supporting every detail of your event. Some events take years to plan, with Account Managers fostering relationships at trade shows, industry events, and through personal connections. Upon signing your contract, a dedicated team of experts in event management, event production, ICT, and hospitality will work hand-in-hand with you from planning to execution, ensuring a successful event.

The success of The CCD largely hinges on the strong relationships we’ve cultivated with client organizers, Professional Conference Organizers (PCOs), agencies, and suppliers. One notable partnership is with Kenes PCO, which began ten years ago when they brought the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID) to Dublin in 2015. Since then, The CCD has collaborated with Kenes on numerous events, including the Association for European Paediatric and Congenital Cardiology (AEPC) in 2023 and the upcoming International Gynaecological Cancer Society (IGCS) event later this year. This partnership has attracted over 11,500 international delegates, generating a local economic impact of over €21 million.

At The CCD, we prioritize building strong relationships with our clients and agencies, partnering with them to deliver world-class events. Our teams possess a deep understanding of our clients’ needs, the venue, and the events industry. By working collaboratively, we ensure the delivery of exceptional events and memorable experiences for all attendees.

Several prestigious events return to The CCD year after year, showcasing the exceptional work of our teams and the venue’s outstanding facilities. The CCD has hosted numerous awards ceremonies, including the An Post Irish Book Awards, Irish Construction Excellence (ICE) Awards, and Women in Tech Awards. The venue provides a perfect setting for evenings of recognition and networking, and has been the chosen location for the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards multiple times since 2017. Another notable event is the Business & Finance Awards, which has honored leadership and corporate success at The CCD annually since its opening in 2010.

Dublin Comic Con has also become synonymous with The CCD, returning to the venue multiple times over the years. It’s not just national events that come back to The CCD. Since opening in 2010, we have welcomed over 365,000 international conference delegates (ICDs), who come to Ireland for conferences that often choose Dublin and The CCD as their preferred location to discuss key topics and connect with peers in their field. Just last week, The CCD hosted Kaseya’s flagship customer event, DattoCon Europe, for the second time, and they will return again in June 2025, having attracted over 2,700 ICDs across three events.

The Temenos Community Forum, one of the largest global banking technology conferences, has brought over 3,000 ICDs to Dublin between its 2018 and 2024 conferences. With Dublin’s reputation as an airline leasing hub, it’s no surprise that Airfinance has held multiple events at The CCD over the last 14 years, including the Euromoney Conferences in 2015 and the International Airfinance Conference from 2016 to 2023. The International Air Transport Association (IATA), representing some 330 airlines and over 80% of total air traffic, has held three large international events at The CCD since 2015, with the renowned Slots Conference taking place in 2023.

International events, particularly association conferences, typically rotate through three major hubs: EMEA, Australasia, and the US. This rotation means that while some organizers may wish to return annually, it’s not always possible. However, we are thrilled to see some of these events making their way back to The CCD. The European Society of Coloproctology, for instance, hosted their conference in Dublin in 2015 and again in 2022. Our Sales team is actively working on many events now cycling back to EMEA, and we are excited at the prospect of welcoming these events back to The CCD.
