Vauxhall unveils the new Grandland, a significant step up in sophistication and quality for the British automaker. The updated SUV boasts several impressive features that set it apart from its predecessors.
Firstly, the Grandland features an illuminated Griffin badge, a distinctive design element made possible by recent changes in regulations. The rear of the vehicle also features an illuminated Vauxhall wordmark for added visual appeal.
In terms of powertrains, the Grandland offers a range of electrified options. Buyers can choose from a 1.2-liter petrol hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, or a pure electric version. The electric variants offer impressive ranges, with the standard battery delivering 300 miles-plus and the long-range battery extending that to 400 miles-plus.
The interior of the Grandland has undergone a major upgrade, featuring premium soft-touch materials, a super-wide 16-inch touchscreen with over-the-air software updates, and specially designed grooved seats for long-distance comfort. A head-up display projects essential data onto the windscreen, keeping drivers informed without taking their eyes off the road. Additionally, the Grandland retains physical buttons for volume and air conditioning, providing intuitive and easy-to-use controls.
The Grandland has grown in size, offering ample space for passengers and cargo. It boasts a larger boot, more rear legroom, and more in-cabin storage than competitors like the Volkswagen Tiguan. However, it remains a five-seater, with no plans for a 5+2 configuration.
Vauxhall is expected to announce pricing for the new Grandland in June. Estimates suggest that the mild-hybrid version will start from £33,000, while the battery-powered models are likely to be priced at £44,000 and upwards. Vauxhall design boss Mark Adams expressed confidence in the Grandland, stating that it brings sophistication, quality, and technology to a vehicle that customers can be proud of.
