Asus Teases ROG Ally X, an Upgraded Handheld with a Premium Price Point
Leaked information suggests that Asus is set to release the ROG Ally X, an updated version of its handheld gaming device. However, the anticipated price tag of $800 has sparked concerns among potential buyers.
Despite the increased cost, the ROG Ally X is rumored to retain the same Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and 7-inch 1080p display as its predecessor. However, it is expected to come with a larger 1TB SSD, replacing the original’s 512GB storage capacity. Additionally, the new model will reportedly boast a redesigned battery with a more than 40% increase in capacity, addressing one of the primary criticisms of the previous version.
Other rumored enhancements include upgraded RAM, redesigned buttons and joysticks, and a sleek black color option. Asus has confirmed that the ROG Ally X will not replace the original model but will instead exist alongside it. This pricing strategy suggests that the upgrades and enhancements will come at a premium.
The official launch date for the ROG Ally X is set for June 2nd, when Asus is expected to disclose its complete specifications and pricing details. Interested buyers will need to carefully consider whether the rumored upgrades warrant the additional $100 investment compared to the original ROG Ally, especially if battery life is not a primary concern.
