The Rolling Stones to Finally Perform at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival After Previous Cancellations

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is set to kick off its two-week celebration, and this year’s lineup includes the long-awaited performance by The Rolling Stones. The legendary rock band was originally scheduled to appear in 2019 but had to cancel due to Mick Jagger’s heart surgery. A second attempt in 2021 was also thwarted by the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving fans eagerly anticipating their debut at Jazz Fest.

Festival producer Quint Davis expressed his excitement for the Stones’ performance, noting that tickets for their set sold out swiftly. He said, ‘It’s gonna be special.’ The Stones will take the stage next Thursday, May 2, marking their first appearance at Jazz Fest.

Opening day of the festival features an impressive lineup, including rock bands Widespread Panic and The Beach Boys, reggae artist Stephen Marley, and jazz vocalist John Boutte. Throughout the first weekend, attendees will enjoy performances by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Jon Batiste, country star Chris Stapleton, R&B singer Fantasia, rock band Heart, and many more.

While anticipation for the Rolling Stones’ performance is high, the festival offers a diverse range of musical experiences on its 14 stages. From blues and R&B to Cajun and Zydeco, Jazz Fest celebrates the rich musical heritage of New Orleans and Louisiana. This year, Colombia’s rhythms and culture will also be highlighted, with close to 200 Colombian artists participating.

Attendees can expect a culinary extravaganza alongside the musical performances, with food vendors offering local delicacies such as crawfish bread, pecan catfish meuniere, cochon de lait po-boys, and boudin.

Festival producer Quint Davis emphasized that while tickets for the Stones’ day are sold out, tickets for other days remain available online. He encouraged attendees to experience the festival’s vibrant atmosphere, which encompasses everything from Indigenous music to contemporary jazz and everything in between.
