Abigail, the latest offering from the creators of Ready or Not, promises a thrilling ride filled with unexpected twists and turns. While its marketing campaign may have hinted at some of the surprises in store, the film still manages to deliver plenty of shocks and surprises for horror comedy fans.
The story follows a ragtag team of criminals, each with their own unique skills and Rat Pack-inspired codename, as they embark on a seemingly simple mission: kidnap the daughter of a wealthy businessman and hold her hostage for 24 hours. However, their plan takes a sinister turn when they discover that their target, Abigail, is not just any ordinary girl but a ballet-dancing vampire.
As chaos and carnage ensue, the criminals find themselves fighting for their lives against the supernatural foe who pirouettes around the halls in a bloodsoaked tutu. Amidst the bloodshed, a surprising twist is revealed: Frank, the group’s leader and former NYPD detective, becomes the ultimate villain, transformed into a vampire by his mysterious employer.
But the surprises don’t end there. Sammy, the team’s tech-whizz, also succumbs to the vampire’s bite, but not in the way you might expect. Abigail’s consciousness uses Sammy’s body to allow her to be in two places at once, creating a new and unique twist on vampire lore.
Despite the gruesome deaths and supernatural elements, Abigail also explores the unexpected connections between characters. The tragic spark between Rickles, one of the criminals, and Joey, the medic-turned-final girl, adds a bittersweet layer to the film’s chaotic and violent events.
Overall, Abigail is a refreshing take on vampire mythology that combines horror, comedy, and неожиданные повороты, leaving viewers with a thrilling and thought-provoking experience.
