The Witcher 3 Modding Renaissance: Romance the Crones and More with REDkit

The Witcher 3 Embraces Modding with Early Access

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has officially embraced modding with the release of REDkit in early access. This official mod editor empowers players to create custom content using CD Projekt Red’s tools. Paweł Sasko, a former quest designer for The Witcher 3, has playfully challenged modders to romance the infamous Crones of Crookback Bog, who were previously unavailable as romantic options in the game.

REDkit Brings New Horizons for The Witcher 3

With REDkit, modders can now expand the world of The Witcher 3, creating new experiences or modifying existing content. CD Projekt Red announced the official mod support in November 2023 and anticipates its wider release in the future. Currently, early access is limited to select individuals, but interested parties can request access through the game’s Steam page.

PC-Exclusive Modding

Despite Bethesda’s console mod support for games like Skyrim, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that REDkit will remain exclusive to PC. This has sparked anticipation for the next Witcher game, which is not expected to launch before 2025. In the meantime, the modding community will likely keep The Witcher 3 fresh and engaging for fans.

The Witcher Franchise Continues to Grow

A Witcher remake and a multiplayer spin-off are also in the works. The original Witcher game will be recreated with modern graphics and gameplay, while the multiplayer experience will offer a unique take on the Witcher universe. IGN’s 9/10 review of The Witcher 3 praised its massive size, meticulous details, and the conclusion of Geralt’s story.
