The highly anticipated next installment in The Witcher series, known as ‘Polaris’ or ‘The Witcher 4,’ has no official launch date yet. While CD Projekt RED doesn’t disclose specific release targets, they have given some clues about the potential timeframe for its arrival in the monster-ridden fantasy world.
During a recent investor Q&A, CD Projekt executives shed light on their pre-order policies for digital storefronts like PlayStation and Xbox. They revealed that, after opening pre-orders for a game, they aim to launch it within a year. This suggests that, once Polaris opens for pre-orders, we can expect its release at least one year later.
Furthermore, the company’s typical production-to-release schedule often spans 4-5 years. Considering this, the release of ‘The Witcher 4’ could fall somewhere within that range, depending on when Polaris entered research and development (R&D) and pre-production. If the game entered its initial planning phases earlier, we could see it arrive as early as 2026. However, if it’s still in the early stages, a 2027 release seems more likely.
CD Projekt RED is currently focusing on a significant team of 410 developers dedicated to bringing ‘Polaris’ to life. Despite this dedicated effort, AAA game development is inherently complex and prone to delays. While we eagerly await the arrival of the next Witcher adventure, patience is key as we navigate the unknown terrain of development timelines.
