CD Projekt Red, the studio behind the popular ‘The Witcher’ series, has confirmed that the development team for the next installment, codenamed ‘Polaris’, has reached its peak size. With a whopping 410 developers currently dedicated to the project, ‘The Witcher 4’ is about to enter full production. This new chapter in the Witcher saga will be the first in a planned trilogy and will be built using the powerful Unreal Engine 5.
However, CD Projekt Red has no plans to significantly expand its development team beyond its current size. Michal Nowakowski, joint CEO of CD Projekt Group, stated in a recent investor Q&A that, “The biggest part of the team is working on Polaris right now and we feel the team is kind of complete. Probably it will grow a bit, but we believe we have all or absolutely most of the people that are required for the project.” He further emphasized that “We do not expect a significant increase.”
This statement was echoed by other executives at CD Projekt Group, underscoring the expectation that the current number of developers working on ‘Polaris’ will remain relatively stable throughout the game’s development cycle. This suggests that the team is confident in its current size and capabilities to deliver a high-quality and ambitious experience for fans of the franchise.
