The Witcher franchise has experienced a resurgence in popularity following the release of the Netflix TV series. Several games in the series have seen a significant increase in concurrent players, according to data from Steam.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the most recent installment in the main series, has seen a player count of 73,368 on PC in the last 24 hours. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings has also seen a boost in popularity, with a peak concurrent player count of 11,471. Gwent, the multiplayer card game set in the Witcher universe, has also seen an increase in players, with 43,632 people playing over the weekend.
Even the original Witcher game, released in 2007, has seen a slight increase in player count. However, The Witcher 1: Enhanced Edition is the only mainline game that has not hit a new record since the show aired.
The TV show’s success has undoubtedly had a positive impact on the game franchise, bringing in new fans and re-engaging existing ones. It remains to be seen whether this surge in popularity will continue in the long term, but for now, The Witcher franchise is riding high.
