Fans of the popular BBC sitcom ‘The Young Offenders’ don’t have long to wait until the next series begins airing. The show, which was created and written by Peter Foott, follows the lovable teenage rogues Conor MacSweeney and Jock O’Keefe as they navigate life in Cork, Ireland. The show is based on the 2016 film of the same name, which won an IFTA, and the lead actors reprise their roles in the show.
The Young Offenders will be returning for its fourth series on Friday, May 10th at 9:30pm. The show first aired on the Irish channel RTE, but later moved to BBC One. In 2023, the show continued to grow in popularity, with 6.3 million iPlayer requests.
Although they are delinquents, Conor and Jock are surprisingly thoughtful and insightful, and they often explore complex topics in their conversations. The upcoming episodes will see the boys continue to feud with their school principal, Mr. Walsh, as well as explore their relationships with his daughters, Linda and Siobhan. The boys will also continue to navigate their roles as foster parents, after Conor’s mother, Mairead, took Jock in after learning of his abusive home life.
The cast of The Young Offenders includes Alex Murphy as Conor MacSweeney, Chris Walley as Jock O’Keefe, PJ Gallagher as Sergeant Healy, Orla Fitzgerald as Mairead MacSweeney, Demi Isaac Oviawe as Linda Walsh, and Shane Casey as Siobhan Walsh. Love/Hate and The Umbrella Academy star Robert Sheehan also featured in a 2018 Christmas special for the show, playing himself.
