ThinkLite Air, a leader in indoor air quality (IAQ) solutions, has partnered with Medxcel, a healthcare services company, to enhance patient safety at a Texas children’s hospital. This collaboration highlights ThinkLite Air’s dedication to improving healthcare outcomes by providing cutting-edge IAQ technology designed to protect vulnerable populations.
Medxcel has relied on ThinkLite Air for nearly four years to help track and reduce healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) in healthcare facilities. In the summer of 2024, Medxcel installed ThinkLite Air Purilux units in every patient room and common area of the Oncology wing at the children’s hospital. ThinkLite Air Flair monitors were also strategically placed throughout the wing to continuously monitor and optimize IAQ levels.
The results were impressive: ultrafine pollution (PC0.1) decreased by 73%, targeting the critical 0.1-0.3 micron range where most airborne pathogens reside. Coarse pollution (PM2.5), which includes allergens, dust, spores, and the like, was reduced by 96%. Total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) dropped by 16%.
The Flair monitors not only verified the effectiveness of the Purilux units but also enabled real-time alerts for administrators when IAQ metrics breached pre-set thresholds. Furthermore, the Flair data demonstrated that spaces within the Oncology wing now operate at an ISO 3-4 “clean room” level, highlighting opportunities for significant energy savings through optimized HVAC operations.
