In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the deadly Florida carjacking, a third person of interest, Kevin Ocasio Justiniano, 28, has been arrested in Puerto Rico. Justiniano is believed to have been the driver of the green Acura seen in the viral video of the carjacking at a busy Winter Springs intersection on April 11. He was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals for unrelated drug trafficking and weapons charges.
Further, investigators have identified a second person of interest, 28-year-old Jordanish Torres-Garcia, as the individual who approached Aguasvivas’ vehicle brandishing a firearm. Torres-Garcia is currently in custody for an unrelated case.
The Seminole County Sheriff, Dennis Lemma, provided an update on the investigation, stating that authorities believe the carjacking was motivated by drugs and money. He emphasized that the two individuals in custody are considered the most dangerous people connected to the case and are now off the streets.
The investigation has also revealed that Aguasvivas was on her way to meet Giovany Joel Crespo Hernandez, 27, at his Casselberry home to deliver money and other items. Hernandez turned himself in to the John E. Polk Correctional Facility late Monday night on unrelated drug charges.
However, it’s important to note that Hernandez has not been charged in connection with the carjacking/homicide and remains incarcerated on charges of fentanyl trafficking and marijuana with intent to sell.
Aguasvivas’ husband and brother are no longer cooperating with detectives, hindering the investigation’s progress. Sheriff Lemma expressed his frustration with their lack of cooperation, highlighting that the husband is not cooperating at all and the brother is providing false information.
