Third Wave Coffee Shop Employee Arrested for Secretly Recording Women in Washroom

A disturbing incident has come to light in Bengaluru, where an employee of the popular Third Wave Coffee shop was arrested for secretly recording women in the washroom. The incident unfolded on Saturday, August 12th, when a woman discovered a mobile phone hidden inside a dustbin in the women’s washroom. The phone was cleverly concealed within a dustbin bag, with a strategically placed hole allowing only the camera to be exposed. The camera had been recording for approximately two hours before being discovered.

The woman immediately alerted the cafe staff, who quickly identified the phone as belonging to one of their employees. The incident was promptly reported to the police, leading to the arrest of the accused, a 23-year-old man from Shivamogga district. He had been working at the coffee shop for the past year.

The Bengaluru City DCP, Shekhar H Tekkannavar, confirmed the arrest and revealed that the accused had confessed to his crime. He explained that based on the accused’s statement, this was his first such offense. However, the police have sent the confiscated phone for forensic analysis to verify if any other recordings exist. The accused has been booked under the IT Act and BNS, indicating the seriousness of the crime.

The incident has sparked outrage and concern among the public, highlighting the vulnerability of women’s privacy in public spaces. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding personal boundaries and the need for heightened security measures in establishments frequented by women.
