Threads is testing a new feature that allows users to automatically hide their old posts. The feature is currently only available to a small number of users, but it gives users the option to archive individual posts manually or have them automatically archived after a certain amount of time.
To manually archive a post, users can tap on the three dots in the top-right corner of the post and select “Archive now.” This will hide the post from the user’s profile, similar to the way that Instagram’s archive feature works. Users can make their posts public again at any time.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri has stated that this feature will not become the default on Threads. He conducted a poll and received feedback that users prefer it to be an optional feature.
Users on Twitter have long requested the ability to archive posts, and many have resorted to using third-party services to hide their content. The new auto-archiving feature in Threads could be a welcome addition for users who want to manage their social media presence more effectively.
