In a daring escape reminiscent of a movie scene, three criminals in handcuffs managed to break free from police custody by jumping from a moving train in India. The incident took place on Monday between Etawah and Ekdil railway stations in Uttar Pradesh, while the accused were being transported to Maharashtra on a transit remand.
The three criminals, identified as Mohammad Anees, Rehan Farooqui, and Aqeel Ahmed, were residents of Pratapgarh district in Uttar Pradesh. They were being taken to Nalasopara, Palghar district of Maharashtra, by a police team from Nalasopara police station. The accused were facing charges related to fraud and tampering of documents.
According to Shailesh Kumar Nigam, the in-charge of Etawah Government Railway Police (GRP) station, the Maharashtra Police notified the local GRP about the escaped accused at around 5:20 am on Monday. The incident occurred while the train was passing between Ekdil railway station and Etawah railway station. The criminals reportedly pushed the policemen and jumped off the moving train with their handcuffs still on.
Upon the train’s arrival at Etawah railway station, the GRP in-charge was informed about the incident by the Maharashtra Police. A search operation is currently underway to apprehend the escaped criminals.
