Three Everett Babies Overdose on Fentanyl, Resulting in One Death

In a heartbreaking turn of events, three young lives in Everett, Washington, were put at risk due to unsecured fentanyl. Between April 20-24, three babies suffered fentanyl overdoses, with one tragically losing their life.

On April 20, an 11-month-old was found unresponsive by their parents and given Narcan, an overdose reversal drug, before firefighters arrived. The child was later taken to the hospital and is now in stable condition.

Just a few days later, on April 24, two more overdoses were reported. A six-month-old was found unresponsive and given Narcan, while a 13-month-old sadly passed away despite medical intervention at Providence Regional Medical Center.

Investigations are ongoing, but police do not believe the cases are connected. The Everett Fire Department emphasizes the importance of keeping fentanyl out of reach of children, as even small amounts can be lethal. The City of Everett released a statement expressing deep concern and highlighting the dangers of fentanyl, especially to young children whose bodies are more susceptible to its effects and may mistake pills for candy.

This incident serves as a stark reminder to parents and caregivers to prioritize child safety and ensure that potentially hazardous substances like fentanyl are stored securely out of the reach of little hands.
