Three Maoists Killed in Anti-Naxal Operations in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar Region

Chhattisgarh Police have announced the killing of three Maoists in two separate anti-naxal operations conducted in the Bastar region of the state. These operations took place in the Sukma and Bijapur districts.

The first encounter occurred near Belpochcha village in Sukma district, where a joint team of security personnel engaged in an anti-naxal operation. An exchange of fire ensued between the security forces and the Maoists, resulting in the death of one Maoist. A weapon, explosives, and Maoist-related materials were recovered from the encounter site.

The second encounter took place in the Jammemarka and Kamkanaar village forest area of Bijapur district. Security forces encountered Maoists during an anti-naxal operation, leading to the killing of two Maoists. A search operation is ongoing in the jungle as security forces continue to pursue the remaining Maoists.

The identities of the deceased Maoists in both encounters are yet to be ascertained. These incidents bring the total number of Maoists killed in encounters with security forces in Chhattisgarh this year to 116, a significant increase compared to the 22 killed in 2023.
