Xbox Game Pass had a quieter month for additions compared to some, but June still saw several excellent games join Microsoft’s gaming subscription service. Three titles stand out as particularly compelling, offering a diverse range of experiences for players.
Octopath Traveler 2
is a delightful throwback RPG that embraces the charming HD-2D style, reminiscent of Square Enix’s recent Dragon Quest III remake. This sequel builds upon the strengths of the original, delivering stronger writing, deeper character interactions, more reactive quests, and even the ability to speed up turn-based battles. Any RPG fan on Xbox should consider giving Octopath Traveler 2 a try. It’s a classic turn-based RPG where you can embark on a journey as one of eight distinct characters, each with their unique introduction, storyline, and special interactions with NPCs. The choices you make in character selection and recruitment significantly impact the gameplay. Octopath Traveler 2 is available on Xbox Game Pass across PC, console, and cloud, as well as on PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.SteamWorld Dig 2
is a fantastic indie platformer for those who enjoy a good Metroidvania experience. However, it stands out with its unique twist: you dig through an underground mine searching for a missing robot friend named Rusty. The game offers a compelling loop of exploring, finding resources, upgrading your abilities, and using those upgrades to delve further into the mine. If you’ve played the original SteamWorld Dig, the sequel provides a refined and polished experience with a slightly more intricate narrative. SteamWorld Dig 2 is available on Xbox Game Pass for PC and Xbox One, alongside versions for Mac, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PlayStation Vita. For sports enthusiasts,
