Tiger, Disneynature’s latest Earth Day documentary, is now streaming on Disney+. The film takes viewers on a journey into the Indian jungle, where they witness the heartwarming and challenging life of a tigress named Ambar and her four adorable cubs.
Ambar has her paws full with her four little ones, who require a lot of milk, which means she must hunt relentlessly for deer. However, hunger is not their only threat. A massive python lurks in the shadows, eager to swallow a tiger cub whole. Additionally, the alpha tiger, Shankar, who is much larger than Ambar, poses a danger to the cubs.
Despite the challenges, Ambar is a devoted mother who goes to great lengths to keep her cubs safe, including luring Shankar away for a week-long romantic interlude.
Tiger offers a compelling story about tiger relationship dynamics. The mother-cub bond is strong and ever-present, but the relationship between Ambar and Shankar is a rollercoaster of love and danger.
While the film does feature some anthropomorphization and could use more hard scientific facts, the stunning cinematography and intimate shots of the tigers make it a worthwhile watch for nature enthusiasts.
If you’re a fan of tiger cubs, wildlife documentaries, or simply looking for a heartwarming story, Tiger is a film you won’t want to miss.
