Tigers Aim for Sweep, Rays Seek to Halt Skid

The Detroit Tigers are on the verge of completing a three-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field. With a victory, the Tigers would secure their second series sweep of the season and improve to 15-10 overall. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, has dropped three straight games and is now 12-13 on the year. The Tigers’ offense has been clicking in this series, scoring seven runs on Monday and four runs on Tuesday. Riley Greene has led the way with two home runs, while Mark Canha and Isaac Paredes have each homered once. Kenta Maeda and Alex Faedo have been solid on the mound, combining for 10 strikeouts and allowing just six hits in 10 innings. The Rays will send Colin Poche to the mound on Wednesday. Poche is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA this season. He will face a Tigers lineup that is hitting .265 with a .790 OPS. The Rays’ offense has been struggling lately, scoring just two runs in the past two games. Isaac Paredes has been a bright spot, hitting his sixth home run of the season on Tuesday. The Tigers are tied for second place in the AL Central, 3.5 games behind the Cleveland Guardians. The Rays are last in the AL East, 4.5 games back of the first-place New York Yankees. Wednesday’s game is scheduled to start at 6:50 p.m. ET and will be televised on Bally Sports Detroit.
