Tight Security for EVMs at Counting Centres in Salem, Namakkal, and Dharmapuri

Collectors of Salem, Namakkal, and Dharmapuri districts conducted inspections of security arrangements at counting centres on Monday. The districts held polling on April 19th.

EVMs used in Salem South, Salem North, Salem West, Omalur, Edappadi, and Veerapandi assembly constituencies were moved to strong rooms at Karuppur Government Engineering College and sealed in the presence of political party representatives. The strong rooms featured five-layer security and CCTV cameras, with footage accessible in the control room for police and party representatives. Central armed force personnel were deployed on a shift basis at the counting centre. Salem District Collector and Returning Officer R. Brindha Devi and Salem City Commissioner B. Vijayakumari inspected the arrangements.

In Namakkal, EVMs from Namakkal, Senthamangalam, Rasipuram, Paramathi Velur, Tiruchengode, and Sankagiri assembly constituencies were kept at a private college in Ilayampalayam near Tiruchengode. Namakkal Collector S. Uma inspected the security measures and control room.

Dharmapuri’s EVMs from Dharmapuri, Palacode, Pappireddipatti, Harur, Pennagaram, and Mettur assembly constituencies were kept at Government Engineering College in Chettikarai. District Collector K. Santhi inspected the security arrangements.
