Fancy escaping it all for a life by the sea? Now, you can do just that, as a rare opportunity to buy a teeny tiny beach hut has cropped up in Dorset. However, this idyllic escape comes with a hefty price tag of £110,000.
Measuring just 13’2” by 6’2”, the hut might be small, but its location on Avon Beach in Mudeford is truly enviable. Just a stone’s throw from Christchurch Harbour and around 20 minutes from Bournemouth by car, it offers stunning views across to the Isle of Wight and down to Hengistbury Head.
While the hut lacks a toilet, it compensates with a well-equipped kitchen, complete with an integrated fridge, a two-burner gas hob, and a sink unit, alongside ample storage cupboards. So, despite the limited space, you can still host a cosy dinner party for up to four guests.
The hut’s interior is cheerful, featuring a blue color palette that complements the seaside theme. There are a couple of fold-up chairs for relaxing, and you can always acquire a few more deck chairs and sit out the front on the sand for a picnic if the weather’s nice.
Of course, the sea is just a few steps away, making this an ideal spot for swimming, surfing, or simply enjoying the beautiful scenery.
The price of £110,000 may seem steep considering the limited amenities and tight space, but it’s surprisingly on the cheaper side for local beach huts. It’s worth noting, however, that lenders generally won’t accommodate mortgages on beach huts, so you’ll need to have the full amount stashed away.
Earlier this year, a beach hut in nearby Christchurch went on the market for a whopping £440,000 – though this one was slightly larger, accommodating up to eight people. And, back in 2012, one in Mudeford Spit sold for £170,000 just two days after it was placed on the market, becoming the UK’s ‘most expensive’ at the time. Notably, this one also lacked running water.
So, if you’ve always dreamed of living the beach hut life, this could be your chance. Just be prepared to pay a premium for the unique experience and stunning location.
