All India Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has once again taken aim at the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party, this time celebrating their defeat in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Faizabad, a high-profile seat in Uttar Pradesh. Moitra, on the social media platform ‘X’, shared a video of Indian writer and comedian Varun Grover, who is heard mocking the BJP’s defeat in Ayodhya, a city that falls under the Faizabad constituency. In his latest comedy show, Grover said, “I don’t think so I need to do comedy now. For the next five years, I can laugh on ‘vo Ayodhya haar gaye’.” He further elaborated, “When I wake at 2 am, I laugh for at least half an hour after thinking about Ayodhya. My cats wonder if I have gone mad. I tell them ‘vo Ayodhya haar gaye’,” in the video shared by Moitra. Accompanying the video, the second-time TMC MP wrote, “Thank you Uttar Pradesh for giving us all the last laugh. (SIC)”
The Faizabad parliamentary constituency, encompassing Ayodhya and Faizabad, is comprised of five Vidhan sabha segments: Dariyabad, Radauli, Milkipur, Bikapur, and Ayodhya. In the Lok Sabha Election 2024, Samajwadi Party’s Awadhesh Prasad emerged victorious, defeating BJP’s Lallu Singh. The SP’s win garnered significant attention as it occurred just months after the inauguration of the Ram Mandir for public visits in January, an event the ruling party had heavily relied on for electoral success. Prasad, in a recent interview, claimed to be the true follower of Lord Ram, asserting that they, not the BJP, were the real Ram bhakts. “We are the real Ram bhakts; they did politics in the name of Ram for attaining power. It is a big achievement for me to emerge victorious from this historic religious centre. I am thankful to the respected voters of Ayodhya,” he stated.
It is important to note that Moitra has recently faced legal troubles. The Special Cell of the Delhi Police registered a case against her for allegedly posting objectionable content on ‘X’ against National Commission of Women (NCW) chief Rekha Sharma. Moitra’s actions come amidst a period of personal hardship. Last year, she underwent a hysterectomy and was subsequently asked to vacate her house following her suspension from the Lok Sabha.
