Tom Cruise, the Hollywood daredevil known for his death-defying stunts, is taking his talents to the international stage. He will be performing a stunt at the Closing Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, marking the transition to the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
According to TMZ, Cruise will be rappelling down from the top of the Stade de France, the iconic stadium hosting the Olympics, onto the field carrying the Olympic flag. The broadcast will then cut to a pre-recorded segment showcasing Cruise flying with the flag from Paris to Los Angeles.
In a move that truly encapsulates the spirit of the Olympics and the magic of Hollywood, Cruise will jump out of the plane and skydive towards the Hollywood sign. Upon landing, he will pass the flag to other Olympians as they parade around Los Angeles, signifying the handover of the games.
Cruise reportedly filmed the Hollywood portion of the stunt back in March, showcasing his commitment to bringing this grand spectacle to life.
This stunt is just another example of Cruise’s dedication to performing his own stunts. He’s famously known for his daring feats, such as the halo jump in ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ and flying a fighter jet in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. In ‘Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning,’ he even drove a motorcycle off a cliff and parachuted to the bottom, emerging unharmed.
The 62-year-old actor was recently spotted hanging from a plane on the set of ‘Mission: Impossible 8,’ proving he’s not slowing down anytime soon.
The Closing Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 11, 2024. Be sure to tune in to witness Cruise’s thrilling stunt and the exciting transition to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
