The inaugural Chennai Pro Championship is set to tee off at the TNGF Cosmo Golf Course in Chennai on Tuesday, August 23rd, bringing together some of the top golfers in the country and beyond. The tournament boasts a prize purse of Rs 50 lakh, attracting a field of 126 golfers, including 123 professionals and three amateurs.
Leading the Indian contingent are some of the nation’s most prominent players. Veer Ahlawat, the current TATA Steel PGTI Ranking leader, will be looking to continue his strong form. Other notable Indian players include Manu Gandas, Rashid Khan, Karandeep Kochhar, Chikkarangappa, Shaurya Binu, and Udayan Mane.
The international field adds a layer of excitement to the tournament, featuring players from various countries. Sri Lankans N Thangaraja, K Prabagaran, and Anura Rohana, Bangladeshis Jamal Hossain and Badal Hossain, Czechia’s Stepan Danek, Nepal’s Subash Tamang, Canada’s Sukhraj Singh Gill, South Korea’s Si In Kim, Japan’s Makoto Iwasaki, and American Dominic Piccirillo are just a few of the names set to compete.
The local challenge will be spearheaded by Chennai-based professionals Pradyumna Prakash and S Prasanth, alongside amateurs Pranav Nandakumar and former India cricketer Murali Vijay. The Pro-Am event, which will take place on August 24th, promises to add another layer of excitement to the week-long tournament.
