Toronto Pearson Braces for Record Summer Travel Season

Toronto Pearson International Airport is gearing up for a bustling summer travel season, anticipating millions of passengers throughout the coming months. In collaboration with key partners like the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA), and the United States Customs and Border Protection (USCBP), the airport authority has shared valuable travel tips to help passengers navigate the busy season.

The airport expects to welcome over 160,000 passengers per day during peak travel days, marking an 8% increase from 2023. This surge in passenger numbers is further reflected in the anticipated flight schedule, with over 1,100 flights expected on the busiest summer days, a 3% rise from last year. While July and August are traditionally the peak months for travel, June has already seen a noticeable increase in travelers, with high volumes expected to continue into September.

To ensure a smoother travel experience during these peak periods, passengers are encouraged to utilize digital tools to streamline their journey. The airport authority strongly advises travelers to arrive at the airport three hours before international flights and two hours before domestic flights. This ample lead time will allow passengers to navigate security checkpoints and boarding procedures with greater ease.
