Torrential Rains Cause Fatalities in Kerala; Red Alert Issued

Torrential rains have wreaked havoc in Kerala, resulting in the tragic loss of four lives. The State’s Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has confirmed these fatalities. In response to the unrelenting downpour, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy showers on Thursday, May 23.

Due to the alarming weather conditions, Health Minister Veena George has established a state control room within the Health Department Directorate. This measure aims to ensure effective coordination and response to the ongoing situation.

The relentless rainfall has caused widespread disruption, leading to waterlogging and damage to infrastructure. Authorities are actively engaged in relief operations and providing assistance to affected areas. The state government has urged residents to exercise caution and follow official advisories.

As of now, the IMD has forecast continued heavy rainfall for Kerala. The red alert remains in effect, prompting authorities to remain vigilant and monitor the situation closely. Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid venturing out unless absolutely necessary.
