Tourism Australia Appoints Jennifer Doig as Regional General Manager for South and Southeast Asia

Tourism Australia has announced the appointment of Jennifer Doig as its new Regional General Manager for South and Southeast Asia, a crucial move as the organization works to revitalize tourism in the region following the pandemic. Doig, who will be based in Singapore, will begin her role on September 16, 2024, reporting to Andrew Hogg, Executive General Manager, Eastern Markets & Aviation at Tourism Australia.

Doig brings over two decades of experience in Asia-based marketing to this exciting new challenge. She previously held the position of Director of Global Campaigns at Dubai Tourism, where she honed her expertise in crafting compelling and impactful marketing strategies. Prior to that, she held prominent positions at global brands like Sony Pictures Entertainment, Turner Broadcasting, Ogilvy, and Edelman, solidifying her reputation as a seasoned marketing leader.

Her appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Tourism Australia, as the organization focuses on restoring tourism to pre-pandemic levels across South and Southeast Asia. The region holds immense potential for Australia’s tourism industry, with India already surpassing 2019 visitation levels and markets like Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia showing steady recovery.

Andrew Hogg expressed his enthusiasm about welcoming Doig to the team, stating, “We are excited to welcome Jennifer at a critical time as we work towards restoring tourism to pre-pandemic levels across South and Southeast Asia. Encouragingly, India has already surpassed 2019 levels of visitation, and markets like Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia are steadily recovering.”

Doig, equally enthusiastic about joining Tourism Australia, remarked, “Tourism Australia sets the industry standard for marketing excellence. I am thrilled to work with the team to strengthen Australia’s reputation as a premier leisure and events destination and to help boost visitation from this strategically important region.”

Doig’s appointment signals a renewed commitment from Tourism Australia to attract visitors from South and Southeast Asia. In 2019, nearly 2 million visitors from this region traveled to Australia, and by 2028, this number is expected to exceed 2.7 million. Doig’s extensive experience and proven track record in Asian markets will be invaluable as Tourism Australia seeks to capitalize on this growing demand and further cement Australia’s position as a leading travel destination.
