Traffic Chaos Looms for British Tourists Using French Airports

French Airport Strike Threatens Travel Chaos for British Tourists

British tourists planning to fly through French airports on Thursday, April 25, are facing potential disruptions due to a planned strike by air traffic controllers.

The strike, organized by the main air traffic controllers’ union SNCTA and another union UNSA-UTCAC, could lead to the cancellation of up to 70 percent of flights. The controllers are protesting an unacceptable new version of a protocol currently being negotiated to change air navigation services.

Air traffic controllers play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of air traffic, and their strike could cause significant delays and cancellations. The French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) has stated that it is confident a solution will be found before Thursday, but the administration has no figures on the participation rate of the mobilization.

The negotiations over the air traffic control organization began 15 months ago and aim to overhaul the system in France. The plans include reorganizing the work of air traffic controllers to cope with the expected increase in air traffic, in return for higher pay and recruitment.
