A violent altercation between a traffic constable and two autorickshaw drivers in Ulhasnagar, Thane, has sparked outrage after a video of the incident went viral on social media. The incident occurred on Friday when the traffic constable approached one of the drivers for allegedly violating traffic rules. According to reports, the driver responded with verbal abuse and splashed water on the constable’s face, escalating the situation.
The altercation quickly escalated into a physical assault when the driver, allegedly joined by another, began to attack the constable. A traffic warden who attempted to intervene was also assaulted by the enraged drivers. While other autorickshaw drivers present attempted to intervene, they were unsuccessful in stopping the assault.
The police are investigating the incident and are in the process of registering an FIR against the two drivers. The constable has alleged that the drivers were harassing a woman and had parked their vehicles in the middle of the road, contributing to the initial confrontation. The drivers, however, demanded a cross-complaint be filed against the constable, suggesting a different version of events.
The video of the altercation has raised concerns about rising aggression and violence against law enforcement officials, while also highlighting the need for effective measures to address traffic violations and prevent such incidents in the future.
