Tempo Traveller Plunges into Gorge in Uttarakhand, Killing 10
A tragic accident in Uttarakhand has claimed the lives of at least 10 people after a tempo traveller carrying passengers fell into a gorge near Badrinath Highway on Saturday. Rescue operations are underway, with SDRF and police teams searching for survivors.
Rescue Efforts Underway
According to the Rudraprayag SP, Vishakha Ashok Bhadane, there were 23 people in the tempo traveller when it plunged into the Alaknanda River. Around 15 injured people have been sent to the hospital for treatment.
Seriously Injured Airlifted
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has stated that those seriously injured in the accident are being airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh for specialized care. He has also directed officials to provide the best possible treatment to the victims.
Condolences and Support
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident. He has assured that the local administration and SDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations, and that all possible assistance is being provided to the injured.
Pilgrimage Activities Continue
Despite the accident, pilgrimage activities in the area remain robust, with Badrinath and Kedarnath dhams receiving rainfall on Friday. Over 22 lakh pilgrims have visited the four Dhams this season, demonstrating the unwavering faith and resilience of devotees.
Investigation and Safety Concerns
The tempo traveller was reportedly coming from Noida towards Rudraprayag when it met with the tragic accident. The driver is said to have sustained critical injuries. Police and SDRF personnel are investigating the cause of the accident and implementing measures to enhance road safety in the area.
