A somber cloud of tragedy has descended upon the Halifax community following the discovery of a 19-year-old Sikh woman’s body inside a walk-in oven at a Walmart store. The incident, which occurred on Saturday night, has left authorities and the public reeling in shock and seeking answers.
The Halifax Regional Police (HRP) confirmed the tragic news, revealing that the young woman, who was an employee of the Walmart bakery department, was found within the large oven. The police, while withholding the identity of the deceased, emphasized that the investigation is in its early stages and the cause and manner of death are yet to be determined.
Responding to the incident around 9:30 p.m. local time, officers found the woman at the store located at 6990 Mumford Road. She had been working at the store on the day of her death.

The society’s Anmolpreet Singh shared his grief, highlighting the woman’s aspirations for a brighter future in Canada, tragically cut short by her untimely demise.
Adding to the somber narrative, The Globe and Mail reported that the young woman had recently immigrated to Canada from India, seeking a new life and opportunities in her adopted home.
The Walmart store, where the incident occurred, has remained closed since Saturday night following a stop-work order issued by the province’s labor department while the investigation continues. In a statement, Walmart expressed its deep sorrow and extended its condolences to the family of the deceased employee.
