Tragic Fire in Delhi Hospital Claims Lives of Seven Newborns

On Saturday night, a massive fire erupted at a children’s hospital in Vivek Vihar, East Delhi, resulting in the heartbreaking deaths of seven newborn babies. Twelve newborns were successfully rescued from the medical facility, but seven of them succumbed to their injuries, while the remaining five are undergoing treatment at another hospital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families, stating, “The fire tragedy at a hospital in Delhi is heart-rending. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this incredibly difficult time. I pray that those injured recover at the earliest.”

The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) is investigating the cause of the fire, and a case has been registered under sections 336 and 304A against the hospital owner, Naveen Kichi, who remains absconding.

Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, expressed his sorrow over the incident, saying, “…We all stand with those who lost their innocent children in this accident. Government and administration officials are busy treating the injured at the spot. The causes of the incident are being investigated, and whoever is responsible for this negligence will not be spared.”

Delhi Health Minister, Saurabh Bharadwaj, emphasized the government’s commitment to taking strict action against the responsible parties, stating, “…We will take such strict action that none of the officials commit such negligence in the future. We are with the families who have lost their babies. I’ll tell the DCP that the prosecution will be launched on the owners as soon as possible.”

The authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their investigation to determine the factors that led to this tragedy and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. The community extends its deepest sympathies to the affected families and stands in solidarity during this time of immeasurable grief.
