Tragic Highway 401 Collision Claims Lives of Indian Family and Infant

An Indian family consisting of Manivannan, Mahalakshmi, and their three-month-old grandchild lost their lives in a devastating multi-vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 401 in Whitby, Ontario, on Monday night. The Consul General of India in Toronto expressed profound condolences for this tragic loss and assured the bereaved family of all possible assistance. According to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of Ontario, the collision involved a Nissan Sentra carrying the Indian family and a cargo van. The 21-year-old male driver of the cargo van was pronounced deceased at the scene, while his 38-year-old male passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries. Alongside the couple, their infant grandchild, also traveling in the Nissan Sentra, tragically passed away at the scene. The parents of the infant, residents of Ajax, were hospitalized following the crash. The 33-year-old father suffered injuries, while the 27-year-old mother sustained serious injuries and remains under medical care.
