Prakash Kapde, a 39-year-old State Reserve Police Force jawan assigned to protect legendary cricketer and Bharat Ratna recipient Sachin Tendulkar, has allegedly shot himself to death in Jamner. The incident took place at 1:30 AM, according to senior police inspector Kiran Shinde, with Kapde using his service gun to end his life. Kapde’s remains have been sent for postmortem examination, with the motive behind his actions still unclear. Investigations are ongoing, and a member of Tendulkar’s security detail confirmed the incident to Hindustan Times. An accidental death report has been filed by the Jamner Police, with additional investigations including interviews with relatives, coworkers, and acquaintances being conducted. Kapde is survived by his elderly parents, wife, two young children, a brother, and other relatives. Given the involvement of a jawan assigned to VVIP security, the SRPF is expected to launch an independent investigation into the matter.
