This heartbreaking event marks the second pedestrian fatality in Edmonton in as many days. On Sunday night, a tragic accident in the area of 120th Street and 113th Avenue claimed the life of another man and injured a woman.
Edmonton has witnessed a disturbing increase in pedestrian fatalities this year, with six cases reported so far. At the same time last year, the city recorded only two such incidents. The rise in pedestrian deaths has raised concerns among residents and authorities alike.
The Edmonton Police Service reminds pedestrians and motorists to exercise caution and obey traffic laws to prevent further tragedies. Pedestrians should use designated crosswalks and avoid distractions while walking, while drivers must adhere to speed limits and be vigilant for pedestrians, especially in busy areas.
Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and more details may be released as they become available.
