Carrie Johnson Mourns Loss of Baby Duckling
Carrie Johnson, former media rep and wife of former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, took to social media on Tuesday to share the tragic news that one of her baby ducklings, Donny, had passed away. The duckling had been a concern for Johnson since hatching at the family home in Oxfordshire last week.
Donny, who was significantly smaller and weaker than his siblings Wally and Daffy, had been struggling to eat since his arrival. Despite Johnson’s efforts to provide care and attention, his condition continued to deteriorate.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Johnson expressed her sadness and regret over Donny’s passing. She acknowledged that from the moment of his birth, it was evident that something was not right, but her hope remained until the end.
Before the sad news on Tuesday, Johnson had shared an update on Monday night, revealing her husband’s fears that Donny might not survive the night. A series of photos and videos posted earlier showed the three ducklings together, with Donny appearing lethargic and significantly smaller than his siblings. Johnson had previously purchased a duck egg incubator for her family as a birthday gift, and they already had a family of ducks living in their garden pond.
The Johnson family, including two-year-old daughter Romy, had grown attached to the ducklings, with Romy even reading to them at breakfast. Johnson’s announcement of Donny’s passing was met with an outpouring of sympathy and support from followers, who shared their condolences and expressed their appreciation for Johnson’s open and honest approach to sharing her experiences.
