Train Disruptions in London: Delays and Closures Due to Person Being Hit by Train

Person Hit by Train Causes Major Disruptions on London Rail Lines

Morning commuters attempting to enter London on Thursday encountered widespread disruptions due to an incident involving a person being struck by a train between Wimbledon and Teddington. This incident forced the closure of all lines, including services running between Waterloo and Richmond, Waterloo and Strawberry Hill, and Waterloo and Shepperton.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, leading to a suspension of power to the affected track area to facilitate their operations. Replacement bus services were implemented to operate between Twickenham and Shepperton via Fulwell, and commuters could utilize their tickets on London Underground, London Buses, as well as Falcon Buses’ 557 and 400 routes.

Tim Pemberton, a commuter, observed approximately seven Metropolitan Police cars at Teddington station, indicating the seriousness of the situation. National Rail cautioned that delays could persist until at least 10 am, significantly impacting the morning rush hour. Additional disruptions affected trains between Clapham Junction/East Croydon and Watford Junction due to damage to overhead electric wires. Southern trains did not stop at Wembley Central, Harrow & Wealdstone, or Watford Junction, and travelers were advised to seek alternative routes.

Commuters faced prolonged delays and service cancellations throughout the affected areas. Southern trains were experiencing delays of up to 45 minutes, and disruptions on this line were expected to continue throughout the day. Passengers were urged to check for the latest updates and plan their journeys accordingly.

The incident is still under investigation, and further updates are expected to be released shortly. Commuters are advised to monitor official sources for the latest information and allow for additional travel time during this period of disruption.
