Travelier Acquires Brazilian Bus Ticketing Platform DeÔnibus
Travelier, a leading travel-tech company that digitizes land and sea transportation, has announced its acquisition of DeÔnibus, a top online bus ticket platform in Brazil. This acquisition enhances Travelier’s presence in Latin America and positions the company as a comprehensive provider for all intercity land and sea transportation needs globally.
DeÔnibus: Brazilian Bus Ticketing Powerhouse
DeÔnibus was founded in 2012 under the name “Brazil by Bus” and rebranded in 2018 to appeal to more domestic travelers. The company has become a prominent player in the Brazilian bus travel sector, connecting over 300 operators to more than 36,000 routes, covering 80% of Brazil’s geography and serving 30 million travelers each year. DeÔnibus boasts a high Net Promoter Score (NPS) of +72, reflecting outstanding customer satisfaction.
Exploring Opportunities in a Growing Market
Brazil’s bus travel market generates over $2 billion USD in annual revenue and is among the largest worldwide. Despite 50% of all international travel purchases in Brazil being made online, only 30% of bus tickets are sold via digital channels. This gap represents a significant growth opportunity for Travelier to establish a commanding presence in the market.
A Winning Combination: Travelier’s Capabilities and DeÔnibus’ Local Expertise
The acquisition of DeÔnibus aligns with Travelier’s vision to become the global leader in intercity land and sea transportation. Travelier believes DeÔnibus is poised to dominate the Brazilian market with its strong position and scaling potential.
Travelier has taken full ownership of DeÔnibus, which is expected to continue its robust annual growth rate of 50%. This growth is supported by Travelier’s vast resources and capabilities. Breno Moraes, co-founder and CEO of DeÔnibus, will remain at the helm, facilitating a seamless transition and maximizing the benefits from Travelier’s backing to propel further success.
This acquisition opens new avenues for Travelier to deepen its penetration into the Brazilian market using its Latam-based Transportation Management System (TMS), Sisorg, thereby reinforcing its leadership across the spectrum of transportation technology services in Brazil.
