Australia’s Travis Head has claimed the top spot in the latest ICC T20 rankings, dethroning India’s Suryakumar Yadav. Head’s stellar performance at the T20 World Cup 2024, which saw him amass 255 runs with two half-centuries, including a crucial 76 against India, propelled him to the top despite Australia’s early exit in the Super Eight stage. He sits two points ahead of Suryakumar, who has slipped to second but still has the chance to regain the numero uno position with India’s campaign still alive in the tournament.
Rounding out the top five batters are England’s Phil Salt and Pakistan’s dynamic duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Notably, West Indies’ Johnson Charles has made a significant climb, entering the top 10 after rising four spots, while Afghanistan star Rahmanullah Gurbaz sits just below him after a five-spot jump.
Meanwhile, in the bowling rankings, India’s Jasprit Bumrah has made a remarkable leap, climbing a whopping 44 places to secure the 24th spot. Kuldeep Yadav has also experienced a significant surge, moving up 20 places to sit just outside the top 10 at 11th. Axar Patel remains the top-ranked Indian bowler, holding onto the eighth spot. England’s Adil Rashid continues to reign supreme at the top of the bowling rankings, but Rashid Khan is hot on his heels in second after his T20 World Cup heroics. Josh Hazlewood has moved up three places to fourth, trailing Hasaranga.
In the all-rounders’ rankings, Marcus Stoinis has been dethroned from the top spot after a brief stint as No. 1. He has dropped to fourth, with India’s Hardik Pandya moving up to third. Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan sits in second, while Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga has reclaimed the top spot.
