Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, shared his familiarity with the iconic ‘Punk’d’ prank that targeted Taylor Swift in 2012. While speaking on the ‘New Heights’ podcast, Kelce recalled watching the episode and finding it particularly memorable.
Comedian Andrew Santino, who participated in the prank, recounted the elaborate scheme that involved Swift believing she had ignited a firework that destroyed a boat carrying a wedding party. Kelce expressed his amusement at the prank’s execution and mentioned his desire to discuss it with Swift.
Santino emphasized his belief that Swift genuinely believed the prank was real, attributing its success to the careful planning and coordination. He noted that many ‘Punk’d’ pranks failed to achieve the desired effect, but Swift’s specific prank was exceptionally well-executed due to its intricate components.
Swift had previously expressed her distress and terror over the prank, stating that it left her traumatized. However, she refrained from seeking revenge on Justin Bieber, who participated in the prank, acknowledging his intelligence and predicting his ability to outmaneuver her.
Santino had previously expressed his pride in pulling off the prank during an episode of his own podcast in September 2023. Kelce and Santino did not further discuss Swift in Wednesday’s podcast episode, despite fans’ anticipation that Kelce might react to the release of her latest album, which includes songs rumored to be inspired by him.
