Schools in Tripura will remain closed on August 22 due to heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides that have impacted the state. The decision to close all educational institutions, including government, aided, private, and Madrasas, was made by the authorities in light of the severe weather conditions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Assam. A low-pressure area over north Bangladesh is expected to bring isolated very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall to Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura over the next two days.

Northwest India:
Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall is expected over Uttarakhand, with scattered to fairly widespread rainfall anticipated over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan. Isolated to scattered rainfall is predicted for Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and West Rajasthan during the week.
West and Central India:
The Meteorological Department forecasts isolated heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Goa, and Gujarat until August 28, in Chhattisgarh until August 25, and in Maharashtra between August 24 and 27.
East and Northeast India:
IMD predicts isolated heavy rainfall in West Bengal, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh until August 23; in Jharkhand and Odisha until August 25; in Bihar until August 24; in Andaman and Nicobar Islands on August 24; and in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until August 26.
South Peninsular India:
The weather bulletin forecasts heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh on August 22, in Telangana on August 24, and in Kerala and Karnataka on August 25. Coastal Karnataka is expected to experience heavy rainfall until August 28, according to the IMD.
