Troy High School Lockdown Lifted After False Threat, Armed Person Call
Troy High School in Fullerton was briefly placed on lockdown Monday, April 22, after the school received an anonymous threat that was later determined to be unfounded. The school received an anonymous phone threat around 2:20 p.m. and was placed under lockdown until 3:10 p.m. The nearby La Vista / La Sierra High Schools also sheltered in place, Fullerton Joint-Union High School District Superintendent Steve McLaughlin said in a statement.
Police also received a call of a man, who was reportedly seen carrying a rifle in the area around 2 p.m. which was later determined to be a student carrying football equipment. Both incidents were confirmed to be related and not credible, Fullerton Police Officer Kristy Wells said.
“We understand that situations like these can be unsettling, and we want to reassure you that the safety and security of our school community are always our highest priority. We want to thank our students, staff, and Fullerton PD for their response, cooperation and focus on safety,” McLaughlin stated.
All school activities have resumed to their regular schedules, officials said.
