Trump and Allies Deemed Unindicted Co-Conspirators in False Elector Case

In the ongoing preliminary examination of six accused false electors in Michigan, the lead investigator for the state Department of Attorney General has implicated former President Donald Trump and several close associates as unindicted co-conspirators in the alleged plot to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Special agent Howard Shock testified that Mark Meadows, Trump’s former White House Chief of Staff, and Trump attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis were among those considered co-conspirators. The six defendants, who signed a document falsely declaring Trump the winner of the election in Michigan, are facing multiple felony charges including forgery and conspiracy to commit election law forgery.

Defense attorneys for the false electors have argued that their clients believed they were signing the document only as a backup if Trump prevailed in legal challenges or recounts. However, Shock’s testimony suggests that the alleged plot involved a broader conspiracy to subvert the electoral process, with Trump and his allies playing key roles.

The investigation has revealed that the false electors were misled by Republican leaders and attorneys, who propagated false claims of widespread voter fraud to justify their actions. The hearing is expected to continue with preliminary examinations for the remaining false electors scheduled for late May.
