Following former President Trump’s announcement as the presumptive GOP nominee for 2024, his campaign and the Republican National Committee have showcased a significant fundraising haul of $76 million. This impressive amount reflects a steady increase since March and signals a surge in campaign activity.
Despite trailing President Biden in total funds, Trump and the RNC maintain confidence in their ability to raise sufficient funds for the upcoming election. Senior campaign advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles expressed optimism, stating that small dollar donors contributed to half of the funds raised, indicating a strong base of support.
RNC chair Michael Whatley and co-chair Lara Trump emphasized the party’s unity and readiness to challenge President Biden. They outlined plans to exceed expectations, raise necessary funds, and build an unmatched infrastructure to support Trump’s momentum.
During a closed-door retreat with donors, Trump campaign officials emphasized the former president’s strong position in key battleground states. They highlighted his lead in Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona, while expressing competitiveness in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. Additionally, they aimed to expand the map to include Minnesota and Virginia, where polling shows Trump competitive in states Biden comfortably won four years ago.
The RNC spring retreat provided a brief respite for Trump from his ongoing criminal trial in New York City. However, the campaign remains focused on building support and raising funds in preparation for the 2024 election.
