Trump Attorney: Democrats Want Trump Killed After Proposed Legislation to Revoke Secret Service Protection

Former Trump attorney Alan Dershowitz has alleged that Democrats in Washington D.C. harbor sinister intentions towards his former client. Dershowitz, a Harvard Law professor emeritus who defended Trump during his 2020 impeachment trial, reacted to proposed legislation from Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson. Thompson’s bill, dubbed DISGRACED (Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable), aims to revoke Secret Service protection from convicted felons, a clear swipe at Trump.

Dershowitz expressed concern that if Trump is convicted on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in New York, he could face imprisonment. He believes that stripping Trump of Secret Service protection would leave him vulnerable to harm. “That means they want him killed, because he’s obviously a target. We live in an age where everybody is in danger,” Dershowitz stated on Newsmax.

Dershowitz added, “Look, Bobby Kennedy ought to be getting Secret Service protection, but certainly Donald Trump needs to get Secret Service protection.” He expressed skepticism that the judge would imprison Trump, despite the serious charges against him.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to the 34 felony counts related to alleged efforts to conceal salacious stories about his sex life during his 2016 campaign. He has dismissed the case as a “scam” and a “witch hunt.” The charges stem from $130,000 in payments made by Trump’s company to his then-lawyer, Michael Cohen, to silence porn actor Stormy Daniels, who claimed to have had a sexual encounter with Trump a decade earlier. Prosecutors allege that these payments were falsely recorded as legal fees to bury potentially damaging information that could have aided Trump’s opponent in the 2016 race.

Trump has acknowledged reimbursing Cohen for the payment, claiming it was intended to prevent Daniels from going public with her allegations. However, he has denied that it was related to the campaign. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
