Former President Donald Trump addressed reporters on Friday morning, ahead of the resumption of his criminal trial in New York. While his son Barron Trump made headlines for reportedly considering his first public appearance as a delegate to the Republican National Convention, he ultimately declined to serve in that capacity. However, five other Trump family members, including Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Tiffany Trump, and Michael Boulos, were selected as delegates by the Republican Party of Florida. These individuals will be among the delegates casting votes for the presumptive Republican presidential nominee in Milwaukee.
In recent years, many members of the Trump family have relocated from New York City to Florida, with Mar-a-Lago becoming the former president’s primary residence. Despite this move, Trump has expressed his fondness for New York, lamenting that he was “treated very badly” by city and state political leaders. He has also cited millions of dollars in tax payments made over the years.
Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. are currently based in Jupiter, Florida, according to the Trump Organization website. The former president has secured the Republican Party’s presumptive nomination, surpassing the 1,215-delegate threshold with a total of 2,037 delegates. Meanwhile, Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, suspended her presidential campaign in March but retained 97 delegates after winning a portion of the votes in Pennsylvania’s primary contest.
In a statement provided to Fox News Digital, the Republican Party of Florida’s chairman, Evan Power, expressed gratitude for the participation of grassroots leaders, elected officials, and Trump family members within the Florida delegation at the 2024 Republican National Convention. He emphasized the party’s preparations for a successful convention in Milwaukee and their determination to achieve victory in November.
Eric Trump will assume the role of chairman for the Sunshine State delegation, while Kimberly Guilfoyle will serve as one of two commissioners on its platform committee.
