A recent poll conducted by Bloomberg News and Morning Consult has revealed that former President Donald Trump holds a 6-point lead over incumbent President Joe Biden in seven crucial battleground states that are likely to play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the upcoming November election. These states include Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Nevada, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Michigan.
The results of the poll, which was conducted between April 8-15 and surveyed 4,969 registered voters in these swing states, indicate that Trump has garnered 49% support among respondents, while Biden has secured 43%. Notably, Biden managed to hold a narrow 2-point lead only in Michigan, while Trump maintained the lead in the remaining six states.
The poll also sheds light on the primary concerns of respondents, with the economy emerging as the top voting issue in the upcoming election cycle. A significant majority of respondents, approximately 55%, expressed concerns that inflation is worsening, while 36% indicated that the employment rate is deteriorating.
Abortion has also emerged as a prominent issue in this year’s election, with over half of the respondents (52%) citing it as a “very important” factor in their decision-making process when selecting a candidate for the November vote.
Furthermore, respondents expressed greater trust in Biden compared to Trump when it comes to safeguarding federal programs such as Social Security and Medicare. Approximately 45% of respondents indicated that they trust Biden to preserve these programs, while 39% expressed trust in Trump’s ability to do so.
